What to Pack for Your Kerala Houseboat Trip

Packing light and smart makes a big difference on a houseboat, where storage space is limited and most of your time is spent outdoors on the deck.

Pack breathable cotton clothing, a hat and sunglasses, and reef-safe sunscreen, since much of the day is spent under open sky. Comfortable slip-on footwear works better than laced shoes for getting on and off the boat.

Carry mosquito repellent for the evening hours, a power bank (some boats have limited charging points), and a basic first-aid kit. If you are travelling during the monsoon, a light raincoat is more useful than an umbrella.
